Twitter sees surge in government requests for data

Twitter has seen a surge in government requests for user information, according to its latest transparency report.

For the six-month period ended Dec. 31, the social media company recorded a 40 percent increase in the number of requests from governments around the world since its last report, according to BBC News.

The most requests came from the U.S. government.
