Twitter names AmEx executive as CMO

Twitter Inc. named American Express Co. executive Leslie Berland as its chief marketing officer.

Working for AmEx since 2005, Berland most recently served as the company's executive vice president of global advertising, marketing and digital partnerships.

The hire follows news that four top executives left Twitter.

Media head Katie Jacobs Stanton, product head Kevin Weil, the head of the engineering division, Alex Roetter, and HR head Brian "Skip" Schipper left the company, CEO Jack Dorsey tweeted late Sunday night.
