Twitter doles out stock, cash bonuses to retain talent

Amid sliding stock prices and stalled user growth, Twitter Inc. (NYSE: TWTR) is offering some employees stock options and cash bonuses in an attempt to retain its staff.

Reuters, citing a story by The Wall Street Journal, reported some employees were offered cash bonuses between $50,000 and $200,000 to remain on board for six months to a year. Depending on when they started working at the company, some employees also have received restricted stock.

Twitter posted zero user growth in the fourth quarter of 2015 and the stock has lost 60 percent of its value in the last year. Shares were trading at $17.70 as of the market’s open on Thursday.
