Twitter accuses UK prime minister's party of misleading public

Twitter officials are accusing British Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s Conservative Party of misleading the public.

During a televised election debate between Johnson and opposition leader Jeremy Corbyn, the Conservative Campaign Headquarters press office account changed its name to "factcheckUK” from its usual “CCHQPress."

“We have global rules in place that prohibit behavior that can mislead people, including those with verified accounts," a Twitter spokesperson said. "Any further attempts to mislead people by editing verified profile information - in a manner seen during the U.K. Election Debate - will result in decisive corrective action.”
