Last edited 2:20 p.m., March 27, 2012Twin Oaks Country Club last week began a renovation of its 10-acre practice facility, a project that will cost more than $400,000, according to General Manger Jim Adkins.
Adkins said Twin Oaks is adding five 4,000-square-foot artificial greens and a six-hole short course, which will allow juniors to practice golf during their regular meetings on Friday mornings. He said the changes will largely benefit the country club's junior golf program, which has 70 to 100 members. Additionally, the practice facility's driving range will be reworked to give it the appearance of a long freeway, and an artificial tee for inclement weather will be added.
Adkins said the club is paying for the renovation internally and isn't fundraising, but he declined to disclose specifics.
Twin Oaks has hired Lee's Summit-based general contractor Mid-America Golf and Landscape Inc. and Kansas City, Kan.-based architect CE Golf Design. A rendering of the practice facility, which has an expected completion date of July 31, is
available here.
Twin Oak Country Club has roughly 600 family memberships.
