TV show features Convoy of Hope's Donaldson

Posted online
Convoy of Hope founder and President Hal Donaldson will share his story this weekend on the TV show "Hometown Heroes."

The DirecTV series is hosted by Joan Lunden and features everyday people who have committed extraordinary acts of kindness and courage, according to a Convoy of Hope news release.

Springfield-based Convoy of Hope was founded in 1994 and provides food and critical relief supplies across the world in times of disaster. Two events in Donaldson's life helped shape who he is and led him to start the organization: When he was 12, his father was killed by a drunk driver and his mother was severely injured, and in the late 1980s, he visited Mother Teresa. The "Hometown Heroes" episode airs at 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. Central time April 12 on DirecTV channel 101.
