In August, more than 3,000 volunteers and dozens of local businesses donated time and supplies to complete the Purdy, Mo., camp’s million-dollar transformation in a week for ABC’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.”
Today, TV Guide hits newsstands with the premiere issue of its larger format, featuring “Extreme Makeover” host Ty Pennington on its cover. The magazine will donate 10 percent of all newsstand sales until Oct. 31 to the camp, with a minimum contribution of $50,000. The new format TV Guide will sell for 99 cents.
The camp is a nonprofit summer camp for children with illnesses, disabilities or other special needs.
ABC will air the Camp Barnabas episode of the makeover show at 6 p.m. this Sunday in a two-hour special.

The first southwest Missouri location of EarthWise Pet, a national chain of pet supply stores, opened; Grey Oak Investments LLC relocated; and Hot Bowl by Everyday Thai LLC got its start.
