President-elect Donald Trump announced he would block the planned purchase of U.S. Steel by Japanese steelmaker Nippon Steel Corp.
“I am totally against the once great and powerful U.S. Steel being bought by a foreign company," Trump said on his Truth Social platform. "As president, I will block this deal from happening."
President Joe Biden also has opposed Nippon Steel’s planned acquisition of U.S. Steel.
