In a spat with California Gov. Gavin Newsom, President Donald Trump threatened to cut federal disaster funding to the state.
Nearly 100,000 acres have been destroyed by wildfires in recent weeks. Thousands have been forced to leave their homes.
Trump said Newsom has done a "terrible job of forest management."
"Every year, as the fire's rage & California burns, it is the same thing - and then he comes to the Federal Government for $$$ help. No more. Get your act together Governor," Trump wrote on Twitter.
Newsom responded: "You don't believe in climate change. You are excused from this conversation."
