Trump Taj Mahal closes after years of losses

The Trump Taj Mahal, an iconic casino hotel on the Atlantic City boardwalk, closed yesterday after years of financial losses and failed negotiations with employees.

The shutdown of the hotel - owned by billionaire investor Carl Icahn - leaves 3,000 people without jobs.

Icahn said in a statement yesterday the casino lost nearly $350 million over a few years.

About 1,000 employees went on strike July 1 seeking health care and pension benefits.
