President Donald Trump yesterday signed executive orders to begin construction of a wall along the Mexican border and crack down on U.S. cities that house undocumented immigrants.
"A nation without borders is not a nation. Starting today, the U.S. gets back control of its borders," he said. "This will help dismantle cartels, keeping illegal weapons and cash from flowing out of America and into Mexico."
Speaking with ABC News on Wednesday, Trump said planning for the wall would begin immediately and construction would start within months. Trump said Mexico will, in same way, pay back the United States for its construction.
Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto disputed that claim.
"Mexico does not believe in walls. I have said it time and again: Mexico will not pay for any wall," he said. "I regret and condemn the decision of the United States to continue construction of a wall that, for years, has divided us instead of uniting us."
