President Donald Trump said Tuesday that he would seek a fast-tracked ruling from the U.S. Supreme Court on the legality of his country-specific tariffs.
"We're asking for an expedited ruling," Trump said, noting the loss of tariffs would make the United States a "third-world country."
A federal court on Friday struck down much of Trump's tariff regime as illegal, indicating the president had exceeded his authority. The tariffs are currently allowed to remain until Oct. 14 under the federal court ruling.
