In an executive action, President Donald Trump yesterday ordered meat processing plants to stay open amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Via the Defense Production Act, the order classifies meat processing as critical infrastructure to prevent a shortage of chicken, pork and other meat products.
Two of the nation's largest meat processing plants, one in Iowa and one in South Dakota, have closed temporarily due to the pandemic.
