President Donald Trump hired former South Carolina Rep. Trey Gowdy as outside counsel for his impeachment inquiry.
Gowdy's entrance follows a month of the White House refusing to comply with House investigations into Trump's alleged pressuring of Ukraine to interfere in next year's presidential election.
Gowdy is expected to appear on television on behalf of Trump, as well as work behind the scenes for the president.
