President Donald Trump is "fully behind" his pick of Stephen Moore for the Federal Reserve Board despite controversy surrounding the selection.
"I spoke to the president yesterday. He completely supports Steve. I certainly do," said Larry Kudlow, the chairman of the National Economic Council. "He’s a smart guy and I think he will be a breath of fresh air in the Fed. So far it's all systems go."
Trump announced last month he was nominating Moore to one of the two vacant seats on the Fed board.
Moore has come under fire for owing more $75,000 to the IRS, as well as over fears he would undercut the Fed’s independence.
