Trump Foundation ordered to stop fundraising in NY

Posted online
New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman's office yesterday ordered the Donald J. Trump Foundation to stop fundraising.

The office cited a lack of proper authorization to seek public donations.

"The attorney general's office is the sole regulator of charities in New York state, and when evidence of clear misconduct is brought to our attention, we take action," a spokesman for the attorney general's office said in a statement.

News has recently surfaced that the foundation does not have the required state certification allowing it to request funding from the public. The New York attorney general's office warned the charity not to raise funds without providing required paperwork within the next 15 days.
