Trump fires acting attorney general

President Donald Trump yesterday fired acting Attorney General Sally Yates for "refusing to enforce a legal order designed to protect the citizens of the United States," according to the White House.

"(Yates) has betrayed the Department of Justice," White House officials said in a statement.

Yates reportedly told Justice Department lawyers to refrain from making legal arguments defending Trump’s executive order on immigration and refugees.

Shortly after Yates’ exit, Dana Boente, U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, was sworn in as acting attorney general.
