Trump eyes temporary ban on refugees

Posted online
CNN obtained a draft executive order showing President Donald Trump is considering a blanket ban on refugees for up to four months.

"In order to protect Americans, we must ensure that those admitted to this country do not bear hostile attitudes toward our country and its founding principles," the order reads. "We cannot, and should not, admit into our country those who do not support the U.S. Constitution, or those who would place violent religious edicts over American law."

The provisions in the draft version would suspend all refugee admissions for four months with an exception for "religious minorities." It also would indefinitely bar entry for Syrian refugees and suspend all visa entry into the United States from seven countries for 30 days. Those countries are Syria, Iran, Iraq, Somalia, Libya, Sudan and Yemen.
