Trump expected to pick World Bank critic to lead institution

President Donald Trump is expected to nominate David Malpass as the U.S. selection to head the World Bank.

The Treasury Department's undersecretary for international affairs, Malpass has said organizations like the World Bank “have grown larger and more intrusive” and “the challenge of refocusing them has become urgent and more difficult.”

Former World Bank President Jim Yong Kim suddenly stepped down, effective Feb. 1. The resignation came three years before his term was scheduled to end.
