The Trump administration on Thursday released an executive order prohibiting U.S. investments in Chinese firms the U.S. says are owned or controlled by the Chinese military.
The move could impact China’s biggest companies - telecom firms China Telecom Corp Ltd. and China Mobile Ltd. and surveillance equipment maker Hikvision.
The Defense Department has identified 31 companies as backed by the Chinese military.
