Trump approves TikTok deal

Posted online

President Donald Trump approved a deal reached over the weekend for TikTok's U.S. business.

Oracle and Walmart agreed to a deal that would give them a combined 20% stake in a new company called TikTok Global. Its headquarters would be in the United States, and four of its five board members would be Americans, officials with Oracle and Microsoft said.

"I have given the deal my blessing," Trump said. "If they get it done, that's great. If they don't, that's OK, too."

Trump has threatened a ban of TikTok if its Chinese ownership does not sell the U.S. assets to companies based in the United States.
