U.S. District Judge Susan Illston has ordered the Trump administration to pause its planned government shutdown layoffs.
The decision comes less than a week after the administration moved to lay off roughly 4,000 workers.
Illston said it is her contention that the administration is unlawfully using the lapse in funding to carry out already planned federal government downsizing.
