Trump administration extends deadline for broadband initiative

The Trump administration is extending the deadline for the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment Program.

States now have an additional 90 days to submit final proposals for the federal broadband program designed to expand access to underserved areas nationwide.

A U.S. Department of Commerce notice indicates the department is reviewing the BEAD initiative “to remove unnecessary rules and mandates, to improve efficiency, take a more technology-neutral approach, cut unnecessary red tape and streamline deployment."
