Tronc is gearing up to sell the newspaper to billionaire biotech investor Patrick Soon-Shiong, a source familiar with the matter told Reuters.
CEO of NantHealth, Soon-Shiong also plans to purchase the Times' sister newspaper, the San Diego Union-Tribune.
The Times was purchased by Tronc's predecessor Tribune Co. in 2000. Tronc in 2015 bought the San Diego Union-Tribune.
