Tribune Co. to cut 700 jobs

Chicago-based media company Tribune Co. is slashing 700 jobs from its payroll as it works to centralize noneditorial functions for its newspapers, according to Crain’s Chicago Business.

The company owns eight major daily publications, including the Chicago Tribune and the Los Angeles Times.

The move is designed to streamline advertising, marketing, distribution, human resources and digital strategy, Crain’s reported yesterday.
