Treasury to sell new 20-year bond

Faced with budget deficits exceeding $1 trillion per year, the U.S. Treasury is introducing a new 20-year bond.

Officials also considered a 50- or 100-year bond. The 20-year bond will be available to investors in the first half of 2020.

"We seek to finance the government at the least possible cost to taxpayers over time and we will continue to evaluate other potential products to meet that need," Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said in a statement.
