Today, Steelman was scheduled to testify in Washington, D.C. during a U.S. House of Representatives hearing on “Isolating Proliferators and Sponsors of Terror: The Use of Sanctions and the International Financial System to Change Regime Behavior.”
Steelman was invited to testify on innovations she developed to establish the first terrorism-free public fund in the country by screening from the portfolio stocks of companies that do business in terrorism-sponsoring nations. She also set policies and screens to protect directly held investments by the state’s public employee retirement system, MOSERS.
The joint subcommittee hearing was held by the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Subcommittee on Terrorism, Nonproliferation and Trade; and the Committee on Financial Services, Subcommittee on Domestic and International Monetary Policy, Trade and Technology.
