The summit is scheduled for 10 a.m.–noon at Plaster Student Union on the Missouri State University campus. It is sponsored by the Missouri Transportation and Development Council, the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce and MSU.
Chamber President Jim Anderson, who is vice-chairman of the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission, will be moderator, and MSU President Michael Nietzel will give welcome remarks.
Speakers include Sen. Bill Stouffer, R-Napton, chairman of the Senate Transportation Committee who sponsored legislation creating a 1-cent sales tax to fund highway improvements; David Stokes of the Show-Me Institute, co-author of the policy study “Missouri’s Changing Transportation Paradigm”; Kirk Juranas, Missouri Department of Transportation district engineer in Springfield; and Christen Jackson, a lobbyist for the Missouri Transportation and Development Council.
There will be a question-and-answer session at the end of the program.
The summit is free and open to the public. Parking is available in the MSU visitors lot at Monroe Street and National Avenue and in the MSU parking garage between Cherry and Elm streets.[[In-content Ad]]
