Traditional TV viewing drops below 50% of usage for first time

Traditional television in the form of broadcast and cable TV dropped to a new usage low in July.

The services, also called linear TV viewing, fell below 50% for the first time in the United States, according to Nielsen.

Streaming services accounted for a record 38.7% of total U.S. TV usage.
