Trade publication Home Channel News named Meek's Lumber Co. its 2014 Pro Dealer of the Year.
The annual award - selected by HCN editors with input from key suppliers and industry stakeholders - recognizes companies for best practices and values in the lumber and building material industry, according to a news release.
Meek's, which operates its Midwestern division headquarters in Springfield, was marked for its family-oriented approach to serving builders and homeowners in the Show-Me State, as well as California, Nevada and Arkansas.
“Since 1919, Meek’s has been building a reputation as an innovative and aggressive pro dealer and home center,” HCN Editor-in-Chief Ken Clark said in the release. “The innovation continues today in a number of programs designed to boost sales."
Clark pointed to the company's core rebate program, builders' loyalty program and discount program for high-paying customers.
Meek's General Manager Charlie Meek said in the release the Midwest division has grown to 34 stores, outpacing the 14 centers on the West Coast.
Charlie Meek, as well as other fourth-generation owners Carrie and Michael Meek, will accept the Pro Dealer of the Year award during the 2014 ProDealer Industry Summit Oct. 28-30 in San Diego, according to the release.
Meek's, which got its start in the Missouri town of Lockwood in 1919, offers a variety of building supplies, according to its
