Following speculation, Toys R Us filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
The retailer reported $4.9 billion in debt. Of that, $400 million has interest payments due in 2018 and $1.7 billion is due in 2019.
The company plans to continue operating its 1,600 global Toy R Us and Babies R Us stores.
