Toyota issued a recall for 1.7 million North American vehicles.
The recall is over faulty airbag inflators produced by Takata. At least 23 people have died worldwide in accidents blamed on the defective devices.
The recall affects 4Runner, Corolla, Matrix and Sienna vehicles, as well as several Lexus models.
