An Oklahoma state court found Toyota Motor liable for a 2007 car crash that resulted in the death of one woman and seriously injured another after a Camry suddenly accelerated, according to the New York Times.
On Oct. 24, the jury awarded $1.5 million in damages to the driver of the 2005 Camry, who was injured in the crash, and another $1.5 million to the family of the woman who died in the accident.
Last year, Toyota recalled million of vehicles because of sudden acceleration problems before it agreed to a more than $1 billion settlement to resolve hundreds of lawsuits. The settlement, however, did not include those suing over wrongful death and injury.
