Toyota and Honda on Tuesday issued separate recall notices for millions of vehicles.
Toyota is recalling 3.4 million cars over potentially defective equipment designed to protect passengers in a crash. Of those, 2.9 million are in the United States.
Honda issued a recall for 2.7 million vehicles that may have dysfunctional Takata airbag inflators. The recall includes 2.4 million vehicles in the United States.
