Toth and Associates Inc. has hired former Downtown Springfield Association Executive Director Rusty Worley, who recently stepped down from his leadership post at the organization.

Worley is scheduled to start Aug. 4 as Toth and Associates' first director of community engagement, according to a news release from the Springfield engineering firm. In the role, Worley will focus on civic partnerships, representing the company in regional initiatives and identifying ways for employees to serve in the community.

“At Toth and Associates, we believe strong communities are built by putting people first both inside our walls and out in the world,” company President Adam Toth said in the release. "Rusty embodies that belief. He has spent his entire career building relationships, fostering partnerships and improving quality of life in our region. His people-centered leadership is a natural fit for our mission and future."

Worley announced in May that he would resign June 30 from his role at the DSA after nearly two decades, according to past Springfield Business Journal reporting. He said at the time that he was pursuing new career opportunities.

“Working with local business owners to help launch and grow their shops and restaurants was one of the most rewarding parts of my time at DSA,” Worley said in the release. “I’m grateful to the Toth team for their desire to cultivate deeper connections in our region, and I’m excited to help shape this new role as we continue building a stronger community together.”

Toth and Associates recently received top honors in its category of companies in business for 21-35 years in SBJ's Economic Impact Awards. The company reported $39 million in 2024 companywide revenue, as well as 211 total employees throughout the firm.
