Toshiba selling chip business to Japanese government

Toshiba plans to sell its memory chip business to a group of investors led by the Japanese government.

The deal with Innovation Network Corp. of Japan, a state-backed fund, is valued at $18 billion.

The company is said to be selling the business to recover from billions of dollars of losses resulting from the collapse of Westinghouse Electric, its bankruptcy U.S. nuclear subsidiary.
