Mayor José Hernan Cortés Berumen and members of Tlaquepaque civic, governmental and other organizations are in town until Monday to visit with their counterparts in Springfield. Tlaquepaque and Springfield became sister cities in 2003; Springfield’s other sister city is Isesaki, Japan.
One visitor, jeweler Hector Selgado, will display silver jewelry at Springfield Pottery, 416 S. Campbell Ave., during First Friday Art Walk tonight. He also will take part in Artsfest on Walnut Street Saturday and Sunday.
Mariachi group Sol de America also made the from Tlequepaque. The musicians will perform:
• 6–10 p.m. Friday at the ArtsFiesta! Cinco de Mayo celebration in Founders Park;
• 11 a.m. Saturday at Dance Stage at Artsfest;
• noon Sunday at Dance Stage; and
• 2:10 p.m. Sunday at the Springfield Cardinals game at Hammons Field.
