Dating app Tinder is introducing paid background checks to its platform.
Match Group, Tinder's parent company, is partnering with background checking platform Garbo. Match also bought a stake in the company.
Founded by women, the background check company uses names and phone numbers to collect "public records and reports of violence or abuse, including arrests, convictions, restraining orders, harassment and other violent crimes," according to officials. The checks do not include drug charges or traffic violations.
Match plans to roll out the service to its other dating platforms after the debut later this year on Tinder.
