A ticket purchased in the Chicago suburb of Des Plaines, Illinois, carried a $1.3 billion jackpot for its unnamed purchaser Friday.
The Mega Millions ticket was purchased at a Speedway gas station and convenience store.
The jackpot was the third-largest lottery prize in the nation’s history after no one matched the game’s six selected numbers since April 15, which is 29 consecutive draws without a winner.
Odds of winning were 1 in 302.5 million.
