Three seats to open on Springfield Board of Education

Posted online
Nominations will be accepted beginning Dec. 12 for three Springfield Board of Education seats that will open in 2007.

Terms will expire next year for board members Pam Bodine, Gerry Lee and Debbie Tolliver. Those openings will be filled in an April 3 election.

Candidate nomination materials will be available beginning Nov. 13 at the Executive Offices of Springfield Public Schools, 940 N. Jefferson. Candidates must be at least 24 years old and registered voters in the Springfield district, and they must have resided in Missouri for at least one year before the election.

To qualify for the ballot, candidates must acquire 500 signatures from registered voters on petitions, due by 5 p.m. Jan. 16. Names and signatures on the petitions will be verified against voter registration records in the county clerk’s office.

Candidates who file on the first day, Dec. 12, will be included in a random drawing to determine the order that names will appear on the ballot. Candidates who file after Dec. 12 will appear on the ballot in the order their petitions are received and validated.

School board members hold offices for three years and until successors are duly elected and qualified.[[In-content Ad]]
