Three local firms honored at state conference

Posted online
The recent Governor's Conference on Economic Development focused on honoring companies, organizations and projects that enhance the state's economic outlook, and three southwest Missouri firms made the list of honorees.

CoxHealth Foundation received the Excellence in Education, Economic Development and Employment - or E3 - Award. The honor is given to an individual, business or group providing leadership in developing strategies and direction to enhance employment opportunities.

The foundation was honored for its partnership with the Ozark Region Workforce Investment Board on the Incumbent Worker Training Initiative, which helped 55 workers complete new credentials or degrees.

Springfield-based Allen Filters Inc. received the Exporter of the Year Award, given to companies with outstanding export performance in manufactured products and services. Allen Filters designs and manufactures fluid filtration and purification systems for companies around the world, ranging from ExxonMobil to ConocoPhillips to Saudi Electricity Co.

Branson Landing received the 2009 Director's Redevelopment Award. As reported in previous SBJ coverage, the $420 million development was cited for four major successes: urban revitalization, environmental improvements, creation of civic space and economic productivity.
