Thieme-Shadel-Hicks funeral homes has expansion plans for the Springfield market.
Thieme funeral home was purchased by Jeff Hicks and Rusty Shadel in December 2001 and renamed in November 2002. The owners have two funeral homes (Thieme-Shadel-Hicks at Midtown, 1200 Boonville Ave., and Thieme-Shadel-Hicks at Rivermonte, 4500 S. Lone Pine Ave.) and three cemeteries (Rivermonte, White Chapel Memorial Gardens and Eastlawn) in Springfield. Shadel and Hicks also have funeral homes in Lebanon, Stoutland and Richland.
Hicks plans to begin building another funeral home at White Chapel Memorial Gardens this spring.
"The people of Springfield desperately want good service," Hicks said. "They don't want discount service; they want their needs taken care of, and they want it done at an affordable price. We're looking forward to doing that.
