Theranos founder's conviction upheld in appeals court

Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes' fraud conviction has been upheld in an appeals court.

The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the fraud convictions and sentences of Holmes and her former boyfriend, Ramesh “Sunny” Balwani, who helped operate Theranos. The court rejected claims of legal errors that tainted their trials.

Holmes in 2022 was sentenced to 11 years in prison for defrauding investors.
