Theater attendance up 24% in 2Q

A total of 63,576 patrons visited Springfield Theatre Alliance member organizations during the second quarter, a 24 percent increase compared to 51,312 in the same quarter of 2011.

Second-quarter attendance was roughly 34 percent of the total 2011 attendance of 187,317, according to a news release from George Cron’s Class Act Productions, one of 14 member organizations of the alliance.

Other members of Springfield Theatre Alliance, which began collecting quarterly attendance data in late 2010, are:

• Springfield Contemporary Theatre at The Vandivort Center;
• Juanita K. Hammons Hall for the Performing Arts; *Springfield Little Theatre at the Landers;
• Drury University Theatre;
• The Springfield Playhouse;
• LuMaxx Productions;
• Missouri State University Theatre and Dance;
• Tent Theatre;
• SRO Lyric Theatre;
• The Skinny Improv;
• Ozarks Technical Community College Fine Arts;
• Gillioz Theatre; and
• Queen City Collective.
