Theater alliance reports attendance bump in 4Q

Posted online
The latest quarterly figures from the Springfield Theatre Alliance show a hefty uptick in attendance compared to the third quarter at participating venues during the last three months of 2011.

A total of 51,577 patrons took in performances for the quarter, according to an alliance news release. That’s up nearly 78 percent from the 29,018 patrons reported in the third quarter, and nearly on par with second-quarter attendance of 51,312. Fourth-quarter attendance is traditionally strong due to the high number of attractions occurring in each participating venue, the release said. Total attendance at alliance venues in 2011 was 187,317.

Member theaters of the alliance, led by Chairman Mark Templeton, meet the first Wednesday of every month. The participating venues are:
  • Drury University Theatre;
  • George Cron Class Act Productions;
  • Gillioz Theatre;
  • Juanita K. Hammons Hall for the Performing Arts;
  • LuMaxx Productions;
  • Missouri State University Theatre and Dance;
  • MSU Tent Theatre;
  • Ozarks Technical Community College Fine Arts;
  • Queen City Collective;
  • Springfield Contemporary Theatre at The Vandivort Center;
  • Springfield Little Theatre at the Landers;
