The U.S. dollar is super strong now

CNNMoney reports the U.S. dollar is stronger against other countries' currencies than it has been in quite some time. The dollar has gained 5 percent over the euro just since the first of the year.
 
That's great news for consumers because a strong dollar makes imported goods cheaper and buys more for travelers abroad. Corporations and the stock market, however, are less than enthusiastic about the dollar's increasing buying power. Big companies might take a hit when they tally the third quarter; profits fall when foreign sales are translated back into U.S. dollars.
 
CNNMoney states the dollar's increasing strength is due to European investors, nervous about the situation with Russia, dumping their euros and buying dollars.
