The Mentors Project: Linda Ramey-Greiwe

Posted online
MENTEE
Diana Day, chief business officer at People Centric Consulting Group

OBJECTIVE
It started as part of the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce mentor program and we have continued to meet. The objective for me is to get more women into leadership roles, so I help Diana think through business challenges and opportunities she faces. We also have worked on helping her achieve career goals.

HOW
We used to meet monthly over coffee. Now, it is typically every two-three months as needed.

RESULTS
Diana wanted to diversify her skill set and then was able to move on to another company. With that company, she has been promoted at least twice.

BREAKTHROUGHS
I had asked her for her job title to complete a nomination form for her and she said it was “still just ... .” I told her no man I knew would say his job title was “still just … .” I reminded her that women sometimes perpetuate being taken less seriously by comments they make, so we have to be vigilant about not selling ourselves short.
