The Mentors Project: Bruce Nasby

Posted online
MENTEE
I have mentored young staff working for or with me in the various positions I have held around the country. A recent local person that I have mentored for a number of years is Dawn Hiles. She worked with me at Enactus before she moved on to Drury University, where she held a number of positions. She is now a consultant at RuffaloCody.

OBJECTIVE
I was a mentoring resource to her on personal and professional development in each of those positions.

HOW
As a chairman of a Vistage Group in Springfield, I now have the opportunity to organize groups of 16 CEOs who meet monthly to take advantage of their collective knowledge of experiences, skills and support from each other in a peer-to-peer confidential setting. It could be said that each of those 16 members have 15 mentors looking out for them.

RESULTS
As a consultant to nonprofit executives, I have assisted a number of organizations run their operations or raise millions of dollars. Most recently, I worked with Lisa Farmer at Harmony House on their $5 million capital campaign. I used my 40 years of experience to help her secure the dollars needed for a new domestic shelter in Springfield.

CHALLENGES
Getting people to open up to the issues they are facing in their business or personal life.
