Going into the weekend, “The Meg” looked like it was going to be a flop for Warner Bros., according to The New York Times.
The film that cost $200 million to make brought in $44.5 million at North American theaters. That's roughly 120 percent more than analysts expected.
"Mission: Impossible — Fallout" came in second with $20 million at the North American box office.
