Project description: A second emergency shelter for families experiencing homelessness is being erected on the grounds of The Kitchen Inc. With 12 apartments, it will be connected by a covered walkway to the first shelter and shares its modular design, while introducing a half-court basketball court to provide recreational opportunities. Other amenities are a laundry facility, computer room, playground, animal kennels and on-site case management services. The architect is Ireland Architects Inc., and engineers are Heithaus Engineering & Associates Inc., civil; RTM Engineering Consultants LLC, structural; and Interpres Building Solutions LLC, mechanical, electrical and plumbing.
